Lindsay in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland, eat your heart out! Lindsay & Jason's wedding was ABSOLUTELY amazing, in every way! From the very finest of detail, everything was expertly chosen and brought together to create a fabulous day!

Lindsay & Jason met several years ago when Jason worked with Lindsay's cousin - she kept telling them they'd be perfect for each other. After crossing paths a few times they eventually got together when they were at a mutual friends party.

Jason proposed to Lindsay on a romantic holiday in Budapest. They were dining in a little Italian restaurant when Lindsay was going through holiday photos on Jason's phone at dinner she found pictures he'd taken at home with cue cards asking her to marry him.

Lindsay & Jason got married at the stunning Oxleaze Barn in Lechlade on 15th October 2016. It was a dry hire venue so they had full scope to do what they wanted, which was fantastic and really allowed them to use their imagination, bringing in subtle parts of their theme. It meant they were able to book their own caterers, design the layout, add all the decorations and chose what went behind the bar!

Lindsay's stunning wedding dress was from Confetti Bridal in Tring, by the fabulous designer Amanda Wyatt, the style was 'Isobel'. The dress was perfect for Lindsay- with stunning lace detail and a fitted bodice, flowing down to an elegant lace skirt & train.

Lindsay's 4 gorgeous bridesmaids all wore elegant dresses from ASOS, with additional lace sleeves and lace trim at the bottom, they really worked well and complimented Lindsay.

Each of the bridesmaids got silver hammered disc bracelets made by Lindsay & Jason's good friend Annie Pilbeam who has her own jewelry company CocoGrey, who also made their rings. The lovely grooms men received a bottle of whisky each.

To get the party into full swing, the wedding was joined by 'Oxygen DJs' for the evening as well as an amazing band, who played 2 sets during and after the ceremony and after dinner called 'The Wolves'.

The flowers were a mix of vibrant colours and textures, adding to the fun atmosphere. Lindsay's bouquet has to be one of my favourites - its full of warm autumn colours and looked fantastic with the additional headpiece Lindsay wore.

Where the ceremony was held, candles filled the room and we used my handmade, bespoke hearts to line the aisle, with additional green foliage covering the stunning fireplace.

Each table had a unique arrangement with warm colours, using vintage books & tea cups adding to the tea party theme.

The stunning cake was made by Maggie Coleman a family friend. It was expertly decorated and looked apt for a tea party. It had a lemon and poppy seed layer, red velvet with chocolate buttercream and classic Victoria sponge.

Throughout the wedding their were some additional props -the picture frames that were used for the seating plan were all hand made by Lindsay's brother Alistair. There were adorable bunnies featured on tables and on the fire place along with Lindsay's shoes which linked to Alice in wonderland.

I love to know where brides got their inspiration from, it helps me keep up to date with new trends but also allows me to point new brides to new wonderful sources - Lindsay wanted a tea party like Alice in wonderland, which inspired the afternoon tea & teapots. They found a catering company called Chipping Norton Tea Sets who were brilliant and fitted the theme and requests perfectly. Pinterest was another fantastic source - Lindsay said she spent hours on there, looking at all the ideas. Lastly but my no means least - Coco wedding venues. Whilst they didn't find their venue through their site following them on Instagram and Pinterest gave them inspiration from all the brilliant posts and pictures.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Gabrielle Hall Photography for allowing us to share these fantastic images - they truly are amazing and capture the day perfectly, showing how happy & full of love it was.

The most beautiful bride you ever did see

I have known Lois for several years, after she moved her gorgeous horse, Pepsi to the stables where my daughter, Emily kept her horse. They quickly became friends and Lois has been a big part of our lives ever since - a highlight has to be being each others bridesmaids.

Lois & John had the most amazing day and I was so blessed to not only be their florist, but to be a part of their day and celebrations.

Lets take it back to the beginning where it all began... Lois & John first met when Lois was working for Mercedes-Benz in Bishops Stortford, John would come into the office once a month to carry out checks on behalf of an insurance provider. They chatted and laughed every time he came in, which was once a month - they got on really well as friends. Fast forward a few years to 2014 - Lois started looking for a new job & John put her forward for a position for a company he did regular work for. Lois started with AutoProtect in September 2015 and at the end of November John asked her out for dinner and they never looked back.

I love hearing about how and when brides got engaged, when Lois came over for her consultation, she told me their romantic tale, "John proposed on 13th February 2016 at home. We were going for dinner that evening and I had been to the hairdressers. When I got home he was in the living room of the house, when I opened the door the coffee table was covered in hearts with a card and heart shaped chocolates. He said I have a present for you whilst leaving the room, shortly after he returned dropped to one knee and said I have something to ask you…. Will you be my valentine, producing a single red rose from behind his back! I took the rose and agreed I would be. Going through to the kitchen John followed me and said no really I do have a present for you, again dropping to one knee he said will you marry me? J we then went to Smith’s Restaurant in Ongar where we had a bottle of Bollinger Champagne and a bouquet of red roses waiting that John had been arranging whilst I had been out during the day."

Lois & John got married at Parklands, Quendon Hall, Quendon Essex on Friday 4th November 2016. The sky was filled with clouds & the grass surrounding the venue covered in a light dew; but that didn't dampen the atmosphere. Lois was joined by her 2 oldest friends, her sister, Emily, her mum and mother-in-law to be - bottles of champagne were popped, songs were sung and everyone was feeling the love!

Lois' dress came from Bellissima Weddings in South Woodham Ferrers the dress was “Blue by Enzoani-Gambela-D” in Ivory and her Veil, “Elizabeth Dickens Vogue” and shoes The Rainbow club. I think you will agree it is stunning - fitting in all the right places and showing off Lois's amazing figure, flowing down to a stunning train.

Lois had four bridesmaids - her beautiful sister, Faye, two oldest friends, Nicola & Karen and Emily. They all looked stunning in the bridesmaids dresses which were from David’s Bridal Westfield Stratford. Their shoes were an elegant pale pink from ASOS.

The Flower girls looked absolutely amazing in their dresses from Light In the Box and their shoes were from Monsoon. The flower girls are Lois' niece, god children and step daughter - each bridesmaid walked down the aisle before Lois with a flower girl - the colour contrasts of white & purple was striking.

Both rings where purchased from Earnest Jones; Lois' a diamante platinum & John's a plain platinum band.

The DJ on the night was Lovelight entertainment - they played a great mixture of songs which had everyone dancing well into the night. With a fantastic dance floor & lighting the party was in full swing not long after dinner.

Flowers by me, Betty & Bear Flowers - Lois came to see me with some wonderful ideas. She wanted warm purples and greens to flow through from the ceremony room to the reception. We added some white roses to the bouquets to really lift them and highlight them against the purple bridesmaids. Lois had a large bouquet filled with deep purple calla lillies, huge white and pale pink roses, finished off with some eucalyptus. It was then tied with white satin ribbon and fastened with an elegant vintage clip.

The ceremony room was filled with lanterns and flowers which created a warm and romantic setting for their ceremony. The arrangement on the registers table was then moved to form part of the top table which stretched along a huge table, seating, Lois & John, their parents, best man and maid of honor (Lois's sister).

On each of the guests tables sat a lantern surrounded by fresh green foliage, roses and calla lillies. The soft glow of the candles created an amazing romantic feel to the room, which was emphasized by the amazing fairy lights above.

The cake was an elegant 4 tiered traditional cake with white icing. Inside was chocolate, lemon and victoria sponge. The cake was made by Angie Waddell.

Lois' inspiration was mainly from visiting the venue, it was the only venue they walked into and knew that is where they wanted to get married! Lois had a good idea of the kind of dress I wanted and she knew the moment she put it on that it was the one. Everything else was found by looking online for ideas and just knowing what I wanted when I saw it.
